A Few thoughts on prepping to buy a beach cleaning machine

With the beach cleaning season coming up fast in the northern hemisphere, we thought it would be helpful to post two of the most helpful articles from beachcleaner.com for prepping to buy a beach cleaning machine. Asking a potential merchant the right questions can save a lot of frustration later when the season is already underway.

Spotlight on the Radius

While the Barber SAND MAN 850 is the most popular walk-behind sand cleaner, the new Radius is also a viable option for people looking for a smaller turning radius and shorter overall length--like for cleaning golf course bunkers and small playground areas. Check out the video to see it in action, and contact a Barber team member to determine whether a SAND MAN 850 or Radius would be best for your specific cleaning needs.

How the SURF RAKE Works

The SURF RAKE's tine raking technology is effective at removing materials from the sand in an eco-friendly way. By dropping the moving conveyor belt's tines into the sad from the top, the machine can be adjusted to clean depending on the environment's conditions. For seaweed, the SURF RAKE can scoop the big chunks off the top to reveal pieces that mingle with the sand bellow, instead of trying to scoop it all onto a screen and clogging the machine. The machine can be adjusted to dig anywhere from skimming up to 6" into the sand--allowing for either a deep clean or a more sensitive approach to not disturb the eco-system that rests beneath the surface of the sand. To understand more about how the SURF RAKE works, you can reference the illustrated video below or watch the operation video to get an idea of how it works.

Concert/event cleanup with barber litter picker

Large concerts, music festivals, and events that take place on grass fields, parking lots, and other potential performance venues can generate millions of dollars by drawing colossal crowds. However, this also means that the people create large amounts of garbage, much of which never makes it into trash cans. Especially during longer festivals, trash can pile up quickly. The LITTER PICKER has proven to be an incredibly cost-effective and quick way to clean up after the day of revelry is done to make sure the event space is restored for the next day's festivities. In the video below, a large concert used two LP's to cleanup after the opening performance of the festival. Find more information on the LP1.

Turf Rake for Spent Strafing Range Munitions Removal

Barber’s TURF RAKE can be used for the periodic cleaning the grounds of outdoor shooting and strafing ranges. The TURF RAKE effectively removes potentially dangerous hazards from the soil and sand: such as, munition casings, studs, stone, rocks, etc. Any debris that is 3/8 inch to 4 inches in diameter, and up to 6 inches deep in the ground, is removed and deposited in the TURF RAKE’s hopper for proper disposal.

Recently, Barber spent some time on a strafing range in the mid-west instructing a new machine owner how to get the best results out of the machine. The following video demonstrates its effectiveness at removing spent shells.

Sand Man Cleaning Golf Course Bunkers

In addition to beach cleaning, the Barber SAND MAN is an excellent tool for removing debris from golf course bunkers. More effective than raking, the SAND MAN sifts fine material from the bunker sand to ensure an optimal golfing experience for course frequenters.

New online customer service resource!

Picture
While Barber team prides itself on providing stellar customer service with a high level of personal attention, we have found that our clients have benefitted greatly from visual aids that go above and beyond what can be accomplished in literature or over the phone. Consequently, Barber has developed a full line of operation and maintenance videos that provide current SURF RAKE owners with clear step-by-step instructions that detail how to operate and maintain their machine.

Specifically, the new Customer Service Resource presents videos that detail how to install the SURF RAKE with a tractor, how to operate it to clean specific beach conditions, and how to perform routine maintenance on the machine.

We encourage current owners and prospective customers to explore this new resource and, as always, to contact one of our team members if we can be of assistance.
